I know St. Charles is the place to be and the traditional end to a long hot week of riding, with all the fantastic businesses, eateries, hotels and historic sites. But for those of you who will not have enough even to Machens why not push a little further to Portage (assuming it doesn't have any flooding alerts). It has a great deal of river history too. Kind of like RAGBRAI with at least one river for a front tire dip. It would be approximately 16 miles more (total 231 miles). You could take a long break in St. Charles and push a little bit more since it is a shorter last day distance. Any takers and we always welcome the "anonymous" people too?
