The arts and music festival at Hermann last weekend (Jun 7-8) was really great. The art was your typical booths selling various objects from paintings to woodcarving. The music, however, was spectacular. With the Hermannhof winery within a stone's throw of the festival, a relaxing lunch with a bottle of local wine between shows was a real treat.
We stayed at a great B&B, an 1886 victorian mansion known as Birk's Gasthaus. Ell, the owner, was a great hostess and the breakfasts were an epicurian delight. Highly recommended. The town boasts a lot of German flavor and the wineries are a joy.
