I rode the Katy Clinton to St Louis several times. But for the life of me cant find info on the RI trail. I mean a description and access.is this a gravel trail like the katy? Is there a,way to park at its entrante either at Truman or further east? Is the parking free? Is it distinct from the katy? Basic usage info would be welcome or a link to those. A few years ago it was named as the 93rd and newest State Park, the Rock Island Trail State Park. It is here on this site just like the Katy is and also on the Mo State Parks site. Same surface as the Katy and the St Parks section starts in Pleasant Hill although many enjoy starting their ride at the Chiefs and Royals stadiums. That section was developed by Jackson County

Parking at all locations is free. Whether or not you can leave a car overnight, may vary from one location to another.

Be aware that the section between Pleasant Hill and Lees Summit is not fully developed. Click the Trail Map link near the top of this page for a full map showing both the Katy Trail and Rock Island trails - the map uses the on-road biking route suggested by Google to cover this gap.

I got on that trail I believe at Windsor. There is a town, rest stop, gas station. There were places to park by the trail rest stop. I took it towards Leeton. It took me all the way to Pleasant Hill. The pleasant Hill trail and road to town is out for bridge construction. It's the same gravel path through farms. There was nothing out there for resources until you get to Harrisonville.
