It’s raining, and I’m supposed to ride the Katy trail from Columbia to Hermann today. Should I stay off the trail and take roads instead?

NO. For one thing it's going to clear off and the trail drains quickly. For another no matter how bad the trail is it's shorter and better than riding with traffic on wet roads.

Not to mention it's a lot harder to get lost on the trail.
